Job Role
To manage all operational aspects of the surfacing contract, including programming, resourcing, and cost control. To ensure all operations on site fully comply with all health, safety, environment, and quality requirements.
Duties
• Supervise and ensure all operatives full comply and adhere to all company Health, Safety & Environmental Policies, and procedures.
• Supervise and communicate out to all site operatives, including SCP’s, any safety bulletins, TBT's, safety audits and site briefings.
• Manage safety proactively on site through near miss, and positive intervention reporting.
• Ensure materials are laid to correct thicknesses to help reduce waste materials from being sent to tip, which impacts on both cost and environment, i.e. ‘Carbon footprint’.
• Help ensure full compliance to Sector 16, i.e. temperature checks, daily laying records, whilst a “Right 1st Time” approach is adopted at all times.
• Daily record sheets, (traffic management sheets, Daily plant and van inspections, Defect reports, Sweeper check sheet, laying records, waste transfer records, Site Induction, spotters in place, overhead cables identified, temporary ramping, cone and guarding, daily hours, including any other report sheets)
• Ensure full ownership and compliance with all company systems/policies.
• Actively embrace digital technology to improve TWWW, communication and reporting
• Develop and promote partnering with the client and various stakeholders on the contract, both internal and external. Attend pre-site contract meetings and agree methods of working at the key stages as required under the contract.
• Control costs and ensure the contract is resourced accordingly, within budgeted levels to maintain the agreed ‘Minimum Acceptable Profit Margins’.
• Assist the Commercial and Finance Departments in the monitoring of costs and preparation of final accounts, i.e. Responsibilities will include.
• Ensure any changes to planned works, such as soft spots are captured through photos, DSR and notified promptly to client and commercial team in writing.
• Ensure the final site measurement and client sign off, of the completed works within 2 weeks.
• Ensure the full and final supply of accurate site records to within 1 week.
• Pre measure site, ensuring tonnages are coordinated ahead accurately and in coordination with the foreman.
• To provide an after-sales service to our clients and to monitor quality of all works.
• Submit monthly KPI information by requested date e.g. Exposure hours, Planing tonnages, waste, and vehicle/plant information for Carbon footprint.
Person Specification
• H&S Experience
• IT literate – Microsoft Office systems
• Surfacing background, as a principal contractor (involved in other aspects including traffic management) would be desirable
